Leo Silva

Position Program Manager

My name is Leonardo David Silva Ferrera; I was born February 12th, 1975 in a small town in Honduras named Tela, Atlántida. At the age of 5 I moved to Los Angeles, California with my mother and siblings.  I grew up in L.A. where I went through school and graduated high school from Jefferson High. After high school I went to a community college named Los Angeles Southwest College to study Business administration where unfortunately I dropped out on the first semester to get a job. I lived in Los Angeles for 20 years and came back to Honduras in 2000 after my mother passed away from Cancer. I decided to return to Honduras after an 11 years absence for a time of mourning and ended up never returned to the US.  Now I have a beautiful family, my wife’s name is Prady and I have a son named Christopher. I studied Graphic Design at G.B.M. of Honduras which is an alliance of I.B.M to get my graphics degree… After that I started working at different advertising agencies in Tegucigalpa. The last advertising agency I worked for R.L. Graphics is where I met Janet Hines, Lori Connell, Mark Connell, Terry Reeves and Tim Hines. After a few months of working together on some graphics projects for Mi Esperanza and Torch Missions I became interested in everything they did so I asked if there was ever an opportunity for me to work with them I would love to help. 6 months later in the spring of 2003 Mi Esperanza offered me a job, I knew it would be sort of a career change, but really did not mind or care. I saw it as an opportunity to give back to Jesus Christ, “at least a grain of sand from the ocean” for everything he has done and is doing for me.  I was hired as the program manager for the program.  Ever since I have been working and serving with Mi Esperanza. I am, and forever will be grateful for the opportunity I have been given to work and serve with Mi Esperanza. I have learned many things far beyond the things one can learn at a University, and thank God my life turned out this way knowing it could have turned out in many different ways.

Dear Lord,
I am still, not what I wish to be, not even what I should be….. But thank you Lord, that I am not what I used to be.
